Datatec, a South Africa-based company in the Computer and related services industry, has reported its carbon emissions and committed to ambitious climate targets.

For 2025, Datatec's global Scope 3 emissions were approximately 993.6 million kg CO2e, with Scope 1 and 2 market-based emissions totalling about 7.0 million kg CO2e. In 2024, global Scope 3 emissions were approximately 952.5 million kg CO2e, and Scope 1 and 2 market-based emissions were around 7.9 million kg CO2e. In 2023, the company reported global Scope 1 emissions of approximately 2.5 million kg CO2e and Scope 2 market-based emissions of about 6.0 million kg CO2e. For 2022, global Scope 3 emissions stood at approximately 973.0 million kg CO2e, alongside Scope 1 and 2 market-based emissions of about 7.9 million kg CO2e.

Datatec Limited has set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved targets. The company commits to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by FY2050, from a FY2022 base year. Near-term targets include reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by FY2030, also from a FY2022 base year. Furthermore, Datatec commits that 85% of its suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services will have science-based targets by FY2028. For long-term targets, Datatec aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by FY2050, and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% within the same timeframe, both from a FY2022 base year. Additionally, its subsidiary, Logicalis, has committed to being a carbon-neutral global organisation by 2025.
