Banque de France, a French financial intermediation services provider, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 26,803,000 kg CO2e in 2024. This included about 9,751,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, approximately 5,066,000 kg CO2e from Scope 2 emissions, and around 11,985,000 kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. The Scope 3 investments for 2024 were approximately 1,295,561,110,000 kg CO2e.
For 2021, Banque de France disclosed Scope 1 emissions of approximately 12,604,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of about 5,983,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of around 17,190,000 kg CO2e. In 2019, total emissions were approximately 39,342,000 kg CO2e, comprising about 14,368,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1, approximately 6,469,000 kg CO2e from Scope 2, and around 18,505,000 kg CO2e from Scope 3.
Banque de France is committed to reducing its carbon footprint. The organisation has set a near-term target to cut Scope 1 GHG emissions by at least 15% by 2024 relative to 2019 levels. Similarly, Scope 2 GHG emissions are targeted for a reduction of at least 15% by 2024 compared to 2019. Further commitments include a 34.2% absolute reduction in Scope 1 emissions from gas and fuel consumption in buildings between 2019 and 2025, and a 19.8% absolute reduction in Scope 2 emissions related to electricity in buildings over the same period.
