Polarica's Carbon Emissions and Climate Commitments

In 2024, Polarica reported total greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 23.1 million kg CO2e. This figure comprises approximately 292,800 kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, approximately 22,300 kg CO2e from Scope 2 emissions, and approximately 22.8 million kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. The largest contributor to Scope 3 emissions was purchased goods and services, accounting for approximately 21 million kg CO2e.

For 2023, Polarica's total emissions were approximately 24.1 million kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were approximately 594,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were approximately 66,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions amounted to approximately 23.4 million kg CO2e. Purchased goods and services were again the primary driver of Scope 3 emissions, at approximately 19.4 million kg CO2e.

In 2021, Polarica's total emissions were approximately 31.7 million kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at approximately 578,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions at approximately 3.9 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions at approximately 27.2 million kg CO2e.

Climate Commitments and Reduction Targets: Polarica AB has set ambitious climate targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company has committed to:

• Reducing its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, using 2021 as the base year.
• Measuring and reducing its Scope 3 emissions.
• Achieving net-zero emissions by 2035, with a commitment to reduce total Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 90% by 2035 from the 2021 baseline.

These targets are consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C and are approved for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through a streamlined validation route.
