WuXi AppTec, a China-based research and development services company, reported total emissions of approximately 2.98 billion kg CO2e in 2025. This includes about 69.78 million kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 463.05 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2 emissions, and 2.45 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions in 2025 included purchased goods and services (approximately 2.01 billion kg CO2e) and capital goods (approximately 260.75 million kg CO2e).

In 2024, total emissions were approximately 2.32 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at about 86.13 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 at approximately 531.11 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at about 1.71 billion kg CO2e. For 2023, total emissions were approximately 680.37 million kg CO2e, comprising around 68.85 million kg CO2e from Scope 1, 467.80 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2, and 143.72 million kg CO2e from Scope 3.

WuXi AppTec has set several climate commitments. The company is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity by 25% by 2030, using a 2020 baseline. Additionally, the company aims to achieve a 25% energy consumption intensity reduction by 2030, also against a 2020 baseline.

WuXi AppTec has also set near-term Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated targets. The company commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030, from a 2024 base year. Furthermore, it aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and fuel- and energy-related activities by 25% within the same timeframe, also from a 2024 base year. These targets for Scope 1 and 2 emissions are consistent with reductions required to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
