Ahlstrom

Ahlstrom, a Finnish company in the paper and paper products industry, reported total Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions of approximately 4.17 billion kg CO2e in 2024. This follows emissions of about 4.15 billion kg CO2e in 2023.

Ahlstrom is committed to ambitious climate targets. The company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050. In the near term, Ahlstrom commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year. Additionally, they aim to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy related activities, and upstream transportation and distribution by 25% within the same timeframe. These near-term targets are aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative’s 1.5°C pathway.

For its long-term net-zero goal, Ahlstrom has committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2021 base year. They also plan to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, processing of sold products, and end-of-life treatment of sold products by 90% by 2050, also from a 2021 base year. These long-term targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
