Akamai Technologies, a US-based computer and related services company, reported total greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 353.42 million kg CO2e in 2025. This includes about 70,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, approximately 181.1 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2 emissions, and around 180.35 million kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions were upstream leased assets (approximately 47.8 million kg CO2e), purchased goods and services (about 41.6 million kg CO2e), and capital goods (around 36.6 million kg CO2e).

In 2024, Akamai's emissions included approximately 45,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1, about 121.001 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2, and around 174.34 million kg CO2e from Scope 3. For 2023, Scope 1 emissions were approximately 54,000 kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions were about 112.701 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were around 226.615 million kg CO2e.

Akamai Technologies has set ambitious climate commitments, aiming for net-zero emissions across its global data centre and office footprint (Scope 1, Scope 2, and select Scope 3 emissions) by 2030, and the remainder of its value chain (Scope 3) emissions by 2040. They are committed to 100% emissions mitigation of the delivery and security business segments of Akamai Connected Cloud by 2030, covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Additionally, Akamai targets powering its global operations with 100% renewable energy by 2030. The company has also committed to a 30% absolute reduction in upstream Scope 3 emissions between 2030 and 2040, supported by a formal Supplier Engagement programme, Responsible Supply Chain Programme (RSCP), and an Embodied Emissions Programme for hardware. Akamai Technologies has committed to net-zero targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company is also a signatory of the Climate Pledge.
