Barco, headquartered in Belgium and operating in the Computer and related services industry, has committed to several climate initiatives and reports its carbon emissions.

In 2025, Barco's total reported emissions are approximately 534.1 million kg CO2e. This includes Scope 1 emissions of 2.2 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions (market-based) of 1.3 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of 838.7 million kg CO2e. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions in 2025 were use of sold products (267.5 million kg CO2e), purchased goods and services (176.7 million kg CO2e), and investments (29.6 million kg CO2e).

Looking back, Barco's total emissions were approximately 531.2 million kg CO2e in 2024, 528.5 million kg CO2e in 2023, 330.4 million kg CO2e in 2022, and 281.9 million kg CO2e in 2021. For 2022 and 2021, the majority of reported Scope 3 emissions were attributed to the use of sold products (326.6 million kg CO2e and 278.2 million kg CO2e respectively). In 2020, total emissions were about 277.3 million kg CO2e, and in 2019, approximately 458.4 million kg CO2e. Emissions data for 2018 is reported as approximately 564.8 million kg CO2e, but detailed scope breakdown is unavailable. In 2015, Barco reported Scope 1 emissions of 5.3 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 (market-based) of 5.6 million kg CO2e, and a significant 716.7 million kg CO2e from use of sold products within Scope 3.

Barco has set ambitious reduction targets. Through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Barco NV committed to reduce absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2025 from a 2015 base year. More recently, Barco NV has committed to new near-term targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2024 base year. Concurrently, they aim to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from specific categories (including fuel- and energy-related activities, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, waste, business travel, employee commuting, processing and use of sold products, and downstream leased assets) by 25% within the same timeframe (2024-2030). Barco also commits that 30% of its suppliers by emissions, covering purchased goods and services, and upstream transportation and distribution, will have science-based targets by 2030.

For long-term goals, Barco NV is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050, with specific targets to reduce absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2024 base year. These long-term targets are consistent with reductions required to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Barco also had a previous target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations by 35% by 2023 (versus 2015) for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.
