Cellnex, headquartered in Spain and operating within the Post and telecommunication services industry, reported a total of approximately 608.2 billion kg CO2e in emissions for the year 2025. This figure encompasses Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. For the same year, Scope 1 emissions were approximately 5.1 billion kg CO2e, while Scope 2 emissions, using the market-based method, totalled about 27.7 billion kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions were considerably higher, amounting to approximately 603.1 billion kg CO2e, with significant contributions from capital goods (approximately 385.7 billion kg CO2e) and upstream transportation and distribution (approximately 549.8 billion kg CO2e). In 2024, Cellnex's total emissions were approximately 824.3 billion kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were around 4.9 billion kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions (market-based) were approximately 15.6 billion kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions for 2024 were reported at about 803.7 billion kg CO2e, with capital goods and employee commute being major contributors. Cellnex has set ambitious climate targets. The company is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. As part of its near-term goals, Cellnex aims to reduce absolute Scope 1, 2, and Scope 3 (fuel and energy-related activities) GHG emissions by 70% by 2030, using 2020 as the base year. Additionally, Cellnex committed to reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services and capital goods by 21% by 2025, also based on a 2020 baseline. Furthermore, Cellnex is working towards sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2025 and maintaining this through 2030. By 2030, 82% of its suppliers and customers, in terms of emissions, will be required to have science-based targets. The company also aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035 by offsetting residual emissions, aligning with its Net-Zero by 2050 commitment under the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
