ICA Gruppen, headquartered in Sweden and operating in retail trade services, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 6.22 billion kg CO2e in 2025. This includes about 276,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1 mobile combustion and 79,000 kg CO2e from fugitive emissions. Scope 2 emissions, specifically market-based, were approximately 2.24 million kg CO2e, with purchased electricity accounting for about 1.52 million kg CO2e and purchased heat for 719,000 kg CO2e. Location-based Scope 2 emissions were around 63.36 million kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions were substantial, totalling approximately 6.22 billion kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services being the largest contributor at about 5.99 billion kg CO2e. Upstream transportation and distribution amounted to about 112.62 million kg CO2e, while use of sold products contributed approximately 53.18 million kg CO2e.

In 2024, ICA Gruppen's total emissions were approximately 6.32 billion kg CO2e. This comprised about 310,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1 mobile combustion and 328,000 kg CO2e from fugitive emissions. Market-based Scope 2 emissions were around 1.84 million kg CO2e, including approximately 1.43 million kg CO2e from purchased electricity and 410,000 kg CO2e from purchased heat. Location-based Scope 2 emissions were roughly 73.35 million kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions totalled about 6.27 billion kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services at approximately 6.08 billion kg CO2e and upstream transportation and distribution at about 138.29 million kg CO2e.

Looking back to 2023, ICA Gruppen's total carbon emissions were approximately 12.01 billion kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were about 12.84 million kg CO2e, including 567,000 kg CO2e from mobile combustion, 8.28 million kg CO2e from fugitive emissions, and 132,000 kg CO2e from stationary combustion. Scope 2 emissions were approximately 5.9 million kg CO2e from purchased heat and 2.44 million kg CO2e from purchased electricity. Scope 3 emissions were approximately 11.99 billion kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services representing about 11.76 billion kg CO2e and upstream transportation and distribution contributing around 107.48 million kg CO2e.

ICA Gruppen is committed to significant climate action. The company aims for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5-degree goal. For near-term targets, ICA Gruppen commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. Concurrently, they aim to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 42% within the same timeframe. Additionally, ICA Gruppen targets a 30.3% reduction in absolute Scope 3 FLAG (Forest, Land and Agriculture) GHG emissions by 2030, also from a 2022 base year, and pledges no deforestation across its primary deforestation-linked commodities by December 2025.
