Jacobs, a leading firm in the 'Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction' industry headquartered in the US, is committed to significant climate action. For fiscal year 2024, Jacobs reported total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of approximately 146.5 million kg CO2e. This includes Scope 1 emissions of roughly 15.3 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 19.7 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions amounting to about 129.4 million kg CO2e. The Scope 3 breakdown includes significant contributions from purchased goods and services (approximately 57.1 million kg CO2e) and business travel (around 50.7 million kg CO2e).

In fiscal year 2023, total GHG emissions were approximately 113.4 million kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at approximately 13.5 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 at around 20.6 million kg CO2e (location-based), and Scope 3 at about 97.9 million kg CO2e.

Jacobs has established ambitious reduction targets aligned with climate science. The company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040. Furthermore, Jacobs is committed to reducing its absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030, using a 2019 baseline year. This target is supported by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Additionally, Jacobs has committed to reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from business travel and employee commuting by 50% by 2030, also against a 2019 baseline. The company has also set a target for 65% of its suppliers, by spend, to have science-based targets by 2025. Further demonstrating its commitment, Jacobs has committed to a 90% reduction in absolute scopes 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2040, from a 2019 base year. As part of its Sustainability Linked Bond, Jacobs aims for at least a 70% reduction in absolute Scope 1, 2, and selected Scope 3 emissions (business travel, employee commuting, and upstream fuel) by fiscal year-end 2029, compared to its fiscal year 2019 baseline.
