Jacobs, a US-based Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction company, reported total gross emissions of approximately 146.45 million kg CO2e in 2024. This includes Scope 1 emissions of around 15.34 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of about 19.73 million kg CO2e (location-based), and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 129.37 million kg CO2e. For comparison, in 2023, their total emissions were about 113.44 million kg CO2e.

Jacobs has robust climate commitments, with its near-term and long-term targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2040.

Key reduction targets include:

• A 50% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030, from a 2019 base year.
• A 50% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions from business travel and employee commuting by 2030, also from a 2019 base year.
• A long-term target of a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2040, from a 2019 base year.
• An additional commitment to ensure that 65% of its suppliers by spend, covering purchased goods and services, will have science-based targets by 2025.

Jacobs has also signed The Climate Pledge, further demonstrating its commitment to climate action. Their net-zero commitment and targets are consistent with reductions required to keep global warming to 1.5°C.
