Kadant, a US-based machinery and equipment company, reported total greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 203,000,000 kg CO2e in 2023. This figure encompasses Scope 1 emissions totalling approximately 23,765,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of approximately 4,000 kg CO2e, alongside substantial Scope 3 emissions amounting to approximately 166,400,000 kg CO2e. For 2024, Kadant reported Scope 1 emissions of approximately 30,384,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of approximately 1,598,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 data for 2024 was not disclosed. Kadant is committed to ambitious climate targets, including a Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 63.0% by FY2035, using FY2024 as a base year. They also commit to reducing Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from the use of sold products by 66.33% per USD value added within the same timeframe. Furthermore, the company previously aimed to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions to near zero by the middle of the decade. In 2021, Kadant reported a 30% reduction in its global greenhouse gas footprint from all other sources compared to 2020 levels.
