For 2023, Travelers recorded Scope 1 emissions of 19,586,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of 19,049,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 business travel emissions of 17,129,000 kg CO2e. This follows 2022, which saw Scope 1 emissions of 17,828,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of 20,322,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 business travel emissions of 10,094,000 kg CO2e. In 2021, Scope 1 emissions were 12,794,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were 20,683,000 kg CO2e, and total Scope 3 emissions were 4,479,000 kg CO2e, all from business travel. For 2020, Scope 1 emissions were 13,500,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were 21,908,000 kg CO2e, and total Scope 3 emissions were 5,666,000 kg CO2e, from business travel. In 2019, Travelers reported Scope 1 emissions of 23,746,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of 27,970,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 business travel emissions of 17,819,000 kg CO2e. For 2018, Scope 1 emissions were 25,591,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were 29,881,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 business travel emissions were 18,584,000 kg CO2e. In 2011, the company reported Scope 1 emissions of 37,436,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of 47,167,000 kg CO2e.

Travelers has set a near-term absolute target to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 40% by 2020, against a 2011 base year. The company exceeded this goal, achieving a 54% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by the end of 2020, and a 55% reduction as of year-end 2024. Travelers, through The Travel Corporation, has also committed to Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) with a net-zero target across its value chain by 2050 from a 2019 base year. Near-term SBTi targets include a 46.2% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030 from a 2019 base year. Additionally, The Travel Corporation aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, business travel, and use of sold products by 27.5% within the same timeframe. Long-term SBTi targets include a 90% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2019 base year.
