In 2024, total Scope 1 emissions were approximately 19,069,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were about 18,938,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions, specifically from business travel, were approximately 20,210,000 kg CO2e.

The company has a history of setting and exceeding its emission reduction targets. Travelers previously set a goal to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 40% by 2020, against a 2011 baseline. By the end of 2020, they had exceeded this, achieving a 54% reduction. As of year-end 2024, Travelers reported a 55% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions for owned operations compared to the 2011 baseline.

Furthermore, Travelers is committed to ambitious climate goals through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). They have committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across their value chain by 2050, based on a 2019 baseline year. This includes near-term targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46.2% by 2030, and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, business travel, and use of sold products by 27.5% within the same timeframe. Their long-term targets include a 90% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2050. These SBTi targets are aligned with keeping global warming to 1.5°C.
