TÜV SÜD, an Engineering Services company headquartered in Germany, reported approximately 300.2 million kg CO2e in total carbon emissions for 2025. This includes about 33.0 million kg CO2e from Scope 1, approximately 37.5 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2, and around 229.8 million kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions.

Looking back, their total emissions were approximately 312.0 million kg CO2e in 2024 and around 311.6 million kg CO2e in 2023. In 2022, TÜV SÜD reported Scope 1 emissions of approximately 29.7 million kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions (market-based) of about 26.4 million kg CO2e. For 2021, Scope 1 emissions were approximately 18.6 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were around 40.6 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 business travel emissions were about 14.8 million kg CO2e.

TÜV SÜD has committed to significant climate action, with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved targets cascaded from its parent company, TÜV SÜD AG. These include a commitment to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain by 2050.

Near-term, TÜV SÜD aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030, using a 2023 base year. They also plan to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, upstream transportation and distribution, and business travel by 25% within the same timeframe.

Long-term, TÜV SÜD commits to an ambitious 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2023 base year, alongside a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe. The company also aims to achieve carbon neutrality for its business operations (covering Scope 1, 2, and Scope 3 business travel) from 2025 onwards, offsetting residual emissions with certified compensation projects.
