Biesse, an Italian machinery and equipment manufacturer, has reported its carbon emissions with a total of approximately 344.6 million kg CO2e for the year 2024. This figure encompasses Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.

For the year 2024, Biesse's Scope 1 emissions were approximately 7.8 million kg CO2e. Scope 2 emissions, calculated on a market-based approach, totalled about 2.1 million kg CO2e. The majority of the reported emissions for 2024 fall under Scope 3, amounting to approximately 334.7 million kg CO2e. Key contributors within Scope 3 include purchased goods and services (about 319.4 million kg CO2e), downstream transportation and distribution (about 5.7 million kg CO2e), and business travel (about 4.1 million kg CO2e).

In 2023, Biesse's total emissions were approximately 627.5 million kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions for this period were around 0.6 million kg CO2e. Scope 2 emissions, market-based, were about 2.6 million kg CO2e, while Scope 3 emissions reached approximately 591.5 million kg CO2e, significantly driven by the use of sold products (about 591.5 million kg CO2e) and upstream transportation and distribution (about 42.2 million kg CO2e).

Biesse is committed to reducing its climate impact. The company has set a near-term target to reduce its Scope 2 emissions to near zero by the middle of the decade. Additionally, Biesse aims to reduce its Scope 1 emissions to near zero by the same timeframe. To support these goals, all Italian companies within the Biesse Group have been purchasing electricity from certified renewable sources since 2023, with the aim of significantly lowering indirect Scope 2 market-based CO2 emissions.
