British Council

The British Council, a UK-based education services organisation, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 23,386,000 kg CO2e in 2025. This includes about 752,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1, 9,897,000 kg CO2e from Scope 2, and 12,737,000 kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. In 2024, the organisation's total emissions were approximately 26,791,000 kg CO2e, comprising 691,000 kg CO2e (Scope 1), 10,498,000 kg CO2e (Scope 2), and 15,602,000 kg CO2e (Scope 3).

The British Council has set several climate commitments. It aims to reduce emissions from domestic business flights by at least 30% from a 2017-18 baseline by 2025. The organisation also reported a significant 63.3% reduction in its global total carbon footprint from 22,528,000 kg CO2e in 2019–20 to 8,268,000 kg CO2e in 2020–21. Additionally, its carbon footprint per full-time equivalent (FTE) reduced by 49% from 4.32 tonnes CO2e in 2018–19 to 2.21 tonnes CO2e in 2019–20.
