Davita's climate commitments include a Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) approved near-term target to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, using 2018 as a base year. This target is consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 1.5°C. Davita also commits to increasing its annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 0% in 2018 to 100% by 2030. Furthermore, the company aims for 70% of its suppliers, by emissions covering purchased goods and services, capital goods, waste generated in operations, and downstream transportation and distribution, to have science-based targets by 2025.

In 2025, Davita's reported Scope 1 emissions were approximately 61,997,000 kg CO2e, with stationary combustion accounting for about 53,985,000 kg CO2e and mobile combustion for about 2,284,000 kg CO2e. Scope 2 emissions, location-based, were approximately 195,014,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions totalled about 2,719,456,000 kg CO2e. Significant contributors to Scope 3 emissions included purchased goods and services (approximately 388,037,000 kg CO2e), capital goods (approximately 98,710,000 kg CO2e), and fuel and energy related activities (approximately 72,327,000 kg CO2e).
