GrainCorp, an Australian food products company, reported significant greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1 and 2. For the reporting year 2025, Scope 1 emissions were approximately 54,254,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 62,569,000 kg CO2e. In 2024, Scope 1 emissions stood at about 54,546,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 2 at approximately 60,086,000 kg CO2e. In 2023, Scope 1 emissions were around 58,301,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 71,928,000 kg CO2e.

GrainCorp has made robust climate commitments, aiming for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050. This long-term ambition is underpinned by nearer-term targets set by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Specifically, GrainCorp commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by fiscal year 2030, from a fiscal year 2022 base year. Furthermore, the company aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 35% within the same timeframe. A more ambitious long-term target includes reducing absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 90% by fiscal year 2050, also from a fiscal year 2022 base year. These targets are aligned with keeping global warming to 1.5°C.

While Scope 3 emissions data is not yet fully reported, the company stated its intention to complete the work required to start reporting Scope 3 emissions in FY22 and set achievable, short-term emissions targets.
