Groupe Productlife Sas, headquartered in France and operating in the Medical, precision and optical instruments, watches and clocks industry, has disclosed its carbon emissions and climate commitments.

For the fiscal year 2023, Groupe Productlife Sas reported a total of 5,784,000 kg CO2e. This comprised approximately 45,890 kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions and approximately 87,770 kg CO2e from Scope 2 emissions. Scope 3 emissions were significantly higher, totalling around 5,650,170 kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services accounting for the majority of this figure.

In 2022, the company reported total Scope 3 emissions of approximately 3,300,000 kg CO2e, with business travel contributing 841,500 kg CO2e.

Earlier reporting shows considerable fluctuations and substantial emissions figures, with a total of 1,969,000,000 kg CO2e in 2021, including Scope 1 emissions from mobile combustion (945,848,980 kg CO2e) and stationary combustion (194,000,000 kg CO2e), and Scope 2 emissions from purchased electricity (3,826,060,540 kg CO2e) and purchased heat (4,000,000 kg CO2e). Emissions in 2020 were approximately 2,842,000,000 kg CO2e for Scope 1 and 2 combined, with Scope 1 mobile combustion at 866,814,520 kg CO2e and Scope 2 purchased electricity at 3,420,396,940 kg CO2e. In 2019, the total emissions were around 1,737,000,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 1 mobile combustion at 1,001,802,580 kg CO2e, stationary combustion at 215,000,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 purchased electricity at 4,172,972,860 kg CO2e. The 2015 data indicates total emissions of 1,841,000,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 1 mobile combustion at 1,190,000,000 kg CO2e, stationary combustion at 162,000,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 purchased electricity at 324,000,000 kg CO2e.

Groupe Productlife Sas has established several reduction targets. They commit to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% by 2032, based on a 2024 baseline year. Furthermore, they aim to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from various categories, including fuel- and energy-related activities, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting, and upstream leased assets, by 58.14% per EUR value added within the same timeframe. An additional target includes ensuring that 67.0% of their suppliers by spend, covering purchased goods and services and capital goods, will have science-based targets by 2030.

Prior to these Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitments, the company also had a target to reduce its GHG emissions (scopes 1 and 2) related to transport activities by 30% by 2030, compared to 2015 levels. They also had a near-term target to achieve a 5% reduction in year-over-year emissions per employee between 2023 and 2028.
