Metalsa

Metalsa, a manufacturer in the motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry based in Mexico, reported Scope 1 and 2 emissions for 2025 totalling approximately 143.6 million kg CO2e (market-based) or 182 million kg CO2e (location-based). In 2024, their combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions were approximately 220.8 million kg CO2e, and in 2023, approximately 203.6 million kg CO2e. In 2022, Metalsa reported Scope 1 and 2 emissions of approximately 198.7 million kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions data for purchased goods and services is noted as missing for these reporting years.

Metalsa has established several climate commitments:

• Net-Zero Target: The company is committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.
• Near-Term Targets (by 2030):
  • A reduction of 46.2% in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions from a 2019 baseline.
  • A 40% reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, measured per tonne of purchased steel, from a 2022 baseline.
  • A 42% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from upstream and downstream transportation and distribution.
• Long-Term Targets (by 2050):
  • A 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions from a 2019 baseline.
  • A 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from a 2022 baseline.

These targets are cascaded from the ultimate parent organisation, Metalsa, S.A. DE C.V., which is a member of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C initiative.
