NXP Corporate, a Netherlands-headquartered company in the Semiconductor and Related Device Manufacturing industry, has reported its carbon emissions and set ambitious reduction targets.

In 2024, NXP Corporate's total greenhouse gas emissions were approximately 10.23 billion kg CO2e. This included about 254.94 million kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions and approximately 462.05 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2 emissions. Scope 3 emissions, which represent the majority of their footprint, amounted to around 9.52 billion kg CO2e. Key Scope 3 categories included approximately 6.12 billion kg CO2e from the use of sold products, and about 2.91 billion kg CO2e from purchased goods and services.

Looking ahead, NXP Corporate projects its total emissions for 2025 to be approximately 9.08 billion kg CO2e. This forecast comprises an estimated 206.64 million kg CO2e for Scope 1, around 423.66 million kg CO2e for market-based Scope 2, and approximately 8.45 billion kg CO2e for Scope 3 emissions.

NXP Corporate is committed to significant emissions reductions, with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved goals. They aim to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 55% by 2030, using a 2021 baseline. Furthermore, they plan to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 35% by 2033, against a 2022 baseline. These targets for Scope 1 and 2 emissions are consistent with reductions required to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Previously, NXP Corporate achieved a mid-term goal in 2020, reducing their normalised carbon footprint (Scope 1 and 2) by 30% from a 2010 baseline. Additionally, their absolute Scope 1 emissions decreased by 49% and absolute Scope 2 emissions by 27% from a 2010 baseline by 2020.
