Schreder, a Belgian-headquartered manufacturer of commercial, industrial, and institutional electric lighting fixtures, has reported its carbon emissions and committed to significant reduction targets.

In 2023, Schreder's total reported Scope 1 emissions were 4,233,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 2 market-based emissions at 1,392,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions amounting to 5,283,759,000 kg CO2e. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions included the use of sold products (5,154,173,000 kg CO2e) and purchased goods and services (102,536,000 kg CO2e). For 2022, the company reported Scope 1 emissions of 4,267,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions of 1,285,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of 5,430,375,000 kg CO2e. Preliminary data for 2025 indicates Scope 1 emissions of 3,509,000 kg CO2e, while for 2024, Scope 1 emissions were 3,878,000 kg CO2e. In 2019, Scope 1 emissions were 5,033,000 kg CO2e.

Schreder has set ambitious Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved targets. The company commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 52.5% by 2030, using a 2019 base year. Additionally, Schreder aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from the use of sold products by 27.5% within the same timeframe. These targets are consistent with reductions required to keep global warming to 1.5°C.

Previously, Schreder had a target to reduce its company carbon footprint by 20% by 2022 (compared to a 2018 baseline) for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
