Xcel Energy, an electricity company headquartered in the US, has set ambitious climate commitments. For 2025, the company reported total emissions of approximately 52.9 billion kg CO2e, comprising Scope 1 emissions of about 29.3 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 380 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of about 23.2 billion kg CO2e. In 2024, total emissions were around 55.4 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at roughly 32.7 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 at about 760 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at approximately 22.1 billion kg CO2e.
The company aims to deliver 100% carbon-free electricity by 2050, with an interim target to reduce carbon emissions from electricity provided to customers by 80% by 2030, based on 2005 levels.
