Soitec's reported carbon emissions
Soitec, headquartered in France, has set ambitious climate commitments. For the reporting year 2024, Soitec reported total Scope 1 and 2 emissions of approximately 17.1 million kg CO2e. This included Scope 1 emissions of about 3.5 million kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of approximately 12.4 million kg CO2e. Additionally, Scope 3 emissions for 2024 were reported at approximately 263.8 million kg CO2e, with a noted missing data point for purchased goods and services. Looking at Scope 1 and 2 emissions trends, Soitec reported approximately 15.9 million kg CO2e for 2025, 21.6 million kg CO2e for 2023, 25.2 million kg CO2e for 2022, 21.3 million kg CO2e for 2021, and 22.8 million kg CO2e for 2020. Soitec has established several reduction targets. The company aims for an absolute reduction of 25.2% in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2026, compared to a 2020 baseline. This target, equivalent to reducing emissions from approximately 22.8 million kg CO2e to 17.1 million kg CO2e, has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aligns with the 1.5°C pathway of the Paris Agreement. Some of these targets are in the process of validation by the SBTi. In earlier communications, Soitec had also stated an aim to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions to near zero by the middle of the current decade.
