Glanbia, an Irish pharmaceutical preparation manufacturing company, has reported its climate-related data.

In 2025, Glanbia's Scope 1 emissions were 150,088,000 kg CO2e, and its Scope 2 emissions (market-based) were 47,296,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions were approximately 9.60 billion kg CO2e. Key Scope 3 categories included purchased goods and services at approximately 9.02 billion kg CO2e, upstream transportation and distribution at 160,760,000 kg CO2e, and downstream transportation and distribution at 224,317,000 kg CO2e.

For 2024, Glanbia reported Scope 1 emissions of 143,479,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions (market-based) of 69,497,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions for 2024 were approximately 10.59 billion kg CO2e.

Looking back to 2023, Glanbia's Scope 1 emissions were 144,041,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were 86,074,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions amounted to approximately 11.29 billion kg CO2e.

Glanbia has set near-term science-based targets. According to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Glanbia PLC commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% by 2030 from a 2018 base year, aligned with a 1.5°C pathway. Additionally, Glanbia PLC commits to reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 from a 2023 base year. They also aim for a 30.3% reduction in absolute Scope 3 FLAG GHG emissions by 2030 from a 2023 baseline and commit to no deforestation across primary deforestation-linked commodities by December 31, 2025. Earlier commitments, validated by the SBTi, included a 31% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030 from a 2018 base year, consistent with a well-below 2°C warming scenario, and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services per tonne of dairy product produced by 2030 from a 2018 base year.

The company also has an internal target to reduce Scope 1 emissions by 15,000 metric tons by 2025 through energy efficiency projects, with a 2023 baseline. Furthermore, Glanbia aims for a 50% absolute reduction in operations’ emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 2030, using a 2018 baseline. The company is committed to achieving its near-term GHG emissions reduction targets through existing asset replacement cycles and strategic capital expenditure. Glanbia also states a long-term commitment to keeping temperature rises well below 2.0 degrees Celsius by 2050, as part of a 2019 science-based target project with Carbon Trust.
