Glanbia, an Ireland-headquartered Pharmaceutical Preparation Manufacturing company, reported its most recent emissions for 2025. The company's Scope 1 emissions were approximately 150.09 million kg CO2e, with Scope 2 market-based emissions at about 47.30 million kg CO2e (or approximately 132.36 million kg CO2e location-based). Scope 3 emissions totalled about 9.60 billion kg CO2e. Key Scope 3 categories included purchased goods and services (approximately 9.02 billion kg CO2e), downstream transportation and distribution (around 224.32 million kg CO2e), and upstream transportation and distribution (about 160.76 million kg CO2e).

Glanbia has set near-term Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) aligned commitments. The company aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 31% by 2030 from a 2018 base year, with this target consistent with reductions required to keep warming to well-below 2°C. Additionally, Glanbia commits to reducing Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services by 25% per tonne of dairy product produced by 2030, also from a 2018 base year. The company also states a more recent SBTi commitment to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% by 2030 from a 2018 base year, which is consistent with a 1.5°C warming scenario. Furthermore, Glanbia aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% by 2030 from a 2023 base year and absolute Scope 3 FLAG GHG emissions by 30.3% by 2030 from a 2023 baseline year. The company is also committed to no deforestation across its primary deforestation-linked commodities by 31 December 2025.

Beyond SBTi, Glanbia has set a document-reported target for a 50% absolute reduction in operations’ emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 2030, using a 2018 baseline. In the near term, Glanbia also plans to reduce Scope 1 emissions by 15,000 tonnes by 2025 through energy efficiency projects. The company is committed to achieving its near-term GHG emissions reduction targets through existing asset replacement cycles and strategic capital spend.
