Nokian Tyres's total disclosed carbon emissions for 2025 were approximately 7.95 billion kg CO2e. This includes Scope 1 emissions of approximately 14.9 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions of approximately 4.66 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 7.94 billion kg CO2e.

Looking back, their total emissions were about 7.66 billion kg CO2e in 2024, approximately 8.1 billion kg CO2e in 2023, and roughly 7.18 billion kg CO2e in 2022.

Nokian Tyres has set ambitious climate commitments validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). They aim to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across their entire value chain by 2050.

Their near-term targets, with a 2022 base year, include:

• Reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030.
• Reducing Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, and upstream transportation and distribution by 51.6% per tonne of product purchased by 2030.

Nokian Tyres also has long-term targets, from a 2022 base year, to be achieved by 2050:

• Reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90%.
• Reducing Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, and upstream transportation and distribution by 97% per tonne of product purchased.

Furthermore, an older SBTi target from 2020 (with a 2015 base year) committed Nokian Tyres plc to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 52% per tonne of tyres by 2030. They also committed to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, and use of sold products by 25% per tonne of tyres by 2030 from a 2018 base year. The company achieved its target of cutting tyre factories’ CO2 emissions by 52% per production tonne by 2030 compared to 2015, achieving this ahead of schedule in 2023.
