National Fuel Gas (NFG), headquartered in the US and operating in the distribution services of gaseous fuels through mains industry, has reported its greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2023, NFG's Scope 1 emissions were approximately 205,119,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 949,000 kg CO2e. For 2022, Scope 1 emissions totalled around 245,019,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 2 emissions at approximately 463,000 kg CO2e. In 2021, Scope 1 emissions were reported as approximately 266,112,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were about 404,000 kg CO2e. Prior to that, in 2020, Scope 1 emissions stood at approximately 259,557,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were about 430,000 kg CO2e. In 2019, NFG disclosed Scope 1 emissions of approximately 1,966,929,000 kg CO2e, with no Scope 2 data available for that year.

NFG has established a corporate-level greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction target of 25% by 2030, using a 2020 baseline. This target encompasses all scopes. Furthermore, the company has set segment-level methane intensity targets. Specifically, NFG's Utility segment has achieved a reduction of over 60% in EPA subpart W emissions. The company also has waste reduction goals, aiming for a 40% reduction in waste quantities generated throughout its operations by 2030 (Scope 1), and a 30% reduction by 2030 (Scope 2), both from a 2020 baseline. NFG has not yet disclosed Scope 3 emissions data, with purchased goods and services being a noted missing data point.
