The context

Automating Scope 3 Supplier Emissions Data Collection

As the Company advanced its Scope 3 decarbonization roadmap, it needed to harmonize primary emissions data collection and scale it across key Tier 1 suppliers.

DitchCarbon delivered automated supplier emissions intelligence, with verifiable evidence attached to each data point, creating a single, reliable source of supplier-specific information for Procurement and Sustainability teams.

This enables efficient, quarterly supplier emissions data retrieval and supports the Company’s commitment to transparent and credible decarbonization.
The challenge

Streamlining Supplier Emissions Data

Fragmented vendor portfolio and worldwide presence made it hard to collect accurate suppliers’ emissions data to be reflected in the Group carbon footprint assessment and its decarbonization roadmap.

Julia Beier, Global Head of Responsible Sourcing at EssilorLuxottica

“It significantly eased the team work on the continuous engagement of our suppliers, moving the effort on the suppliers’ emissions data analysis and value chain decarbonization.”
The solution

The timeline

From Onboarding to Full Coverage

Transmuted bullet points into narrative proseWithin the first week, approximately 1,000 key suppliers were loaded following an accurate mapping exercise. By the end of the first month, a broader list of around 5,000 suppliers had been processed, with dashboards and exports live and a refresh cadence confirmed. Quarterly updates have since been established as an ongoing rhythm, with supplier evidence and coverage continuing to improve over time.

Effort down, scale up

Top Tier 1 suppliers’ engagement on the Company’s decarbonization roadmap with audit-ready evidence.

Faster external monitoring

Thanks to centralized dataset  monitoring of publicly available information from suppliers directly impacting the Company’s Scope 3 emissions.

Action over admin

Identification of engagement areas tailored to key suppliers for the Company’s Scope 3 emissions.

In a short amount of time we’ve been able to gather a large amount of reliable carbon information regarding our suppliers, directly from what they publicly disclose. This allowed us to improve our suppliers’ engagement activity, with a focus on actual decarbonisation path instead of data collection.
