Lenovo's reported carbon emissions
Lenovo, a computer terminal and peripheral equipment manufacturer based in China (CN), has demonstrated a commitment to reducing its environmental impact. In its latest reported year, 2025, the company's total calculated emissions were approximately 17.8 billion kg CO2e. This figure is comprised of Scope 1 emissions totalling around 5.8 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions (market-based) at approximately 12.4 million kg CO2e, and substantial Scope 3 emissions amounting to roughly 17.7 billion kg CO2e. Lenovo has set ambitious targets to address its carbon footprint. Key commitments include a near-term goal to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by FY2029/2030, using a FY2018/2019 baseline. Furthermore, the company aims to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from the use of sold products by approximately 35% on average for comparable products within the same timeframe. Additional Scope 3 targets include a 66.5% reduction in emissions from purchased goods and services per million US$ gross profit, and a 25% reduction in emissions from upstream transportation and distribution per tonne-km of transported product. Looking further ahead, Lenovo has pledged to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across its value chain by FY2049/2050. This long-term vision includes a commitment to reduce absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 90% by FY2049/50, again from a FY2018/19 base year. The company's Scope 1 and 2 targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as being consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
