Air Liquide, a French industrial gas manufacturer, reported total emissions of approximately 58.4 billion kg CO2e in 2025. This includes about 14.6 billion kg CO2e from Scope 1, approximately 19.6 billion kg CO2e from Scope 2 (market-based), and around 24.3 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. In the previous year, 2024, their total emissions were about 58.2 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at approximately 14.9 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 (market-based) at around 20.1 billion kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at about 23.2 billion kg CO2e. Looking further back, in 2023, the company disclosed Scope 1 emissions of approximately 15.5 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of about 21.5 billion kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of around 22.3 billion kg CO2e.

Air Liquide is committed to achieving carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2050. The company has set several interim targets:

• Near-term targets: Air Liquide aims for a 30% reduction in carbon intensity (kg CO2-eq./euros) by 2025, compared to a 2015 baseline for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. They also aim to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 23% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline.
• Long-term targets: Air Liquide is committed to a 33% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 2035, compared to a 2020 baseline, with an inflection point around 2025 where absolute emissions will begin to decrease. Furthermore, the company commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from the use of fossil fuel products sold by 60% by 2035, also from a 2021 baseline.

These commitments are consistent with reductions required to keep global warming to well below 2°C, according to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
