Industrial gas manufacturer Air Liquide, headquartered in France, reported approximately 58.4 billion kg CO2e in total emissions for the year 2025. This figure encompasses Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy), and Scope 3 (other indirect emissions).

Breaking down these emissions for 2025:

• Scope 1: Approximately 14.6 billion kg CO2e.
• Scope 2: Approximately 19.6 billion kg CO2e.
• Scope 3: Approximately 24.3 billion kg CO2e, with significant contributions from purchased goods and services (about 6.6 billion kg CO2e), fuel and energy-related activities (about 6.6 billion kg CO2e), and the use of sold products (about 7 billion kg CO2e).

In 2024, total emissions were approximately 58.2 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at about 14.9 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 at about 20.1 billion kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at about 23.2 billion kg CO2e.

Air Liquide has established ambitious climate targets. The company aims to reduce its carbon intensity by 30% by 2025 against a 2015 baseline, targeting an intensity of 5.1 kg CO2-equivalent per euro (using a market-based methodology). Furthermore, Air Liquide plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. As an intermediate milestone, the company aims for a 33% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 2035, compared to a 2020 baseline, with an inflection point anticipated around 2025 where emissions are expected to begin a downward trend.
