Aurubis

Aurubis, a German company in the Secondary Smelting, Refining, and Alloying of Nonferrous Metal industry, reported approximately 5.48 billion kg CO2e in total Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions for 2025. This includes about 501.55 million kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 467.27 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2 emissions, and 4.51 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions.

In 2024, Aurubis's total Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions were approximately 5.53 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at about 496 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions at 495 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions at 4.55 billion kg CO2e. For 2023, total Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions were roughly 5.81 billion kg CO2e, comprising about 564 million kg CO2e from Scope 1, 613 million kg CO2e from Scope 2, and 4.63 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3.

Aurubis has committed to several climate targets:

• Near-term targets: Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, using 2018 as a baseline year. Additionally, they aim to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 24% per tonne of copper cathode by 2030, also from a 2018 base year. These targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as consistent with keeping global warming to 1.5°C.
• Long-term targets: Aurubis aims to achieve carbon neutrality well before 2050.
