Aurubis

Aurubis, a company in the "Other non-ferrous metal ores and concentrates" sector headquartered in Germany, has reported significant carbon emissions across its operations.

For the reporting year 2025, Aurubis's total carbon emissions amounted to approximately 5,482,660,000 kg CO2e. This total comprises:

• Scope 1 emissions: Approximately 501,550,000 kg CO2e.
• Scope 2 emissions: Approximately 467,270,000 kg CO2e (market-based) and 418,410,000 kg CO2e (location-based).
• Scope 3 emissions: Approximately 4,513,840,000 kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services being the largest contributor at approximately 2,596,990,000 kg CO2e.

In the prior reporting year, 2024, total emissions were approximately 5,610,000,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at 561,000,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 at 522,000,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at 4,548,000,000 kg CO2e.

Aurubis has established climate commitments with significant reduction targets. By 2030, the company aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% compared to the 2018 baseline year. Additionally, Aurubis targets a 24% reduction in Scope 3 emissions per tonne of copper cathode by 2030, also referencing the 2018 baseline. Looking further ahead, Aurubis is committed to becoming carbon-neutral well before 2050. These targets are in line with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitments, which confirm the ambition to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
