Baloise Group's Carbon Emissions & Climate Commitments (CH)

Baloise Group, an insurance and pension funding services provider headquartered in Switzerland, reported its total greenhouse gas emissions in 2024 as approximately 1.58 billion kg CO2e. This figure includes Scope 1 emissions of 4.785 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions of 616,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 1.578 billion kg CO2e. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions in 2024 were investments (approximately 1.492 billion kg CO2e) and purchased goods and services (79.64 million kg CO2e).

In 2023, the Group's total emissions were approximately 87.83 million kg CO2e, comprising Scope 1 emissions of 4.078 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions of 632,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 83.12 million kg CO2e. For 2022, total emissions were around 91.00 million kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at 4.738 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions at 1.004 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions at approximately 85.26 million kg CO2e.

Baloise Group has set near-term absolute reduction targets for its operational emissions. The company aims to reduce its Scope 1 emissions by up to 50% by 2030, using 2019 as the base year. Similarly, it targets a reduction of up to 50% in Scope 2 emissions by 2030, also against a 2019 baseline.
