Cambridge City Council, a public administration and defence services provider in GB, reported total emissions of approximately 3,871,000 kg CO2e in 2025. This includes about 2,009,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 883,000 kg CO2e from Scope 2 emissions, and 980,000 kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions.

Looking at historical data, the Council has shown a downward trend in total emissions, decreasing from about 8,041,000 kg CO2e in 2015 to 3,871,000 kg CO2e in 2025.

Cambridge City Council has committed to several climate reduction targets:

• Net-Zero Target: The Council aims to reduce its direct carbon emissions (from corporate buildings, vehicles, and business travel) to net zero by 2030, as outlined in its Carbon Management Plan 2021-2026. This commitment covers all scopes of emissions.
• Scope 1 and 2 Reductions for Buildings: A study suggests the Council could reduce direct emissions from its 29 largest buildings by 69% by 2030 and 87% by 2050 (from a 2019 baseline) for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
• Residential Development Reductions: For all new residential developments, the Council requires a 19% reduction on a Part L 2013 compliant baseline for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, with a target year of 2030.
