Century Communities

Century Communities, a real estate services company headquartered in the US, has reported its carbon emissions data.

For the year 2024, the company's total emissions were approximately 93.1 billion kg CO2e. This total comprises Scope 1 emissions of about 8.57 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 19.5 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions totalling about 700 million kg CO2e. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions in 2024 included purchased goods and services at approximately 656 million kg CO2e and the use of sold products at about 474 million kg CO2e.

In 2023, Century Communities reported total emissions of approximately 2.2 billion kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions for this year were around 10.4 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were about 9.52 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 2.18 billion kg CO2e. The use of sold products was the largest contributor to Scope 3 emissions, at approximately 1.2 billion kg CO2e, followed by purchased goods and services at about 652 million kg CO2e.

The company has set near-term science-based targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) aligned with a 1.5°C pathway. These targets commit Century Communities to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by Fiscal Year 2030, using FY2023 as the base year. The company also commits to measuring and reducing its Scope 3 emissions.
