This includes about 4,357,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions (direct emissions), 3,916,000 kg CO2e from Scope 2 emissions (indirect emissions from purchased energy), and 4,305,000 kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions (other indirect emissions, with business travel accounting for 304,000 kg CO2e). The Council has seen a reduction from approximately 14,925,000 kg CO2e in 2022 and 16,492,000 kg CO2e in 2021.

Coventry City Council has demonstrated a commitment to climate action, becoming a founding signatory of the Global Covenant of Mayors in 2008.
