Crown Castle, a UK-headquartered real estate services company, is committed to addressing climate change through emission reductions and carbon neutrality goals.

In 2024, Crown Castle reported approximately 1.48 billion kg CO2e in total emissions. This included Scope 1 emissions of 11.37 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of 4.01 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions totalling about 1.46 billion kg CO2e. The majority of Scope 3 emissions were attributed to downstream leased assets (approximately 994.82 million kg CO2e), capital goods (approximately 357.14 million kg CO2e), and purchased goods and services (approximately 117.32 million kg CO2e).

Looking back, Crown Castle's Scope 1 and 2 emissions have fluctuated:

• 2023: Scope 1 emissions were approximately 14.33 million kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 4.63 million kg CO2e.
• 2022: Scope 1 emissions were approximately 13.33 million kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 18.31 million kg CO2e.
• 2021: Scope 1 emissions were approximately 13.05 million kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 57.79 million kg CO2e.
• 2020: Scope 1 emissions were approximately 13.98 million kg CO2e, and Scope 2 (location-based) emissions were approximately 63.82 million kg CO2e.
• 2016: Scope 1 emissions were approximately 13.05 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were approximately 57.79 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 waste generated in operations was approximately 0.67 million kg CO2e.

Crown Castle has set a near-term climate commitment to achieve carbon neutrality for its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025. This goal was established in 2021 and reinforced in subsequent reporting years (2022, 2023). The company states it is investing in energy reduction initiatives, sourcing renewable energy, and utilising carbon offsets to meet this target. Additionally, a target from 2019 aims for a 52% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025, against a 2019 baseline.
