G4S, a UK-based security systems services company, reported total global carbon emissions of approximately 272,955 metric tonnes CO2e in 2020. This includes Scope 1 emissions of around 162,317 metric tonnes CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of approximately 52,497 metric tonnes CO2e. Their Scope 3 emissions for business travel in 2020 were about 6,328 metric tonnes CO2e.

Looking at prior years, G4S's total emissions have shown a downward trend. In 2019, total emissions were roughly 422,461 metric tonnes CO2e (Scope 1: 246,910 metric tonnes CO2e, Scope 2: 95,502 metric tonnes CO2e, Scope 3 business travel: 15,338 metric tonnes CO2e). In 2018, total emissions were about 444,556 metric tonnes CO2e, and in 2017, they were approximately 470,727 metric tonnes CO2e.

G4S has established several climate commitments. They aim to reduce their Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions to near zero by the middle of this decade (between 2023 and 2025). Additionally, G4S has set an interim absolute reduction target for Scope 3 emissions, aiming for a 50% reduction by 2030, using 2019 as a baseline year. This target aligns with the global reduction required to limit warming to 1.5°C. G4S Secure Solutions previously held a near-term Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) commitment, which is now classified as "Commitment removed" or "Expired commitment". However, G4S UK & Ireland has a "Committed" status with the SBTi for near-term targets. Emission data and climate commitments are cascaded from the parent company, G4S Limited.
