G4S, a UK-headquartered security systems services provider, reported total global greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 272,955 metric tonnes CO2e in 2020. This includes about 162,317 metric tonnes CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 52,497 metric tonnes CO2e from Scope 2 emissions, and 6,328 metric tonnes CO2e from Scope 3 business travel. For 2019, total emissions were approximately 422,461 metric tonnes CO2e, comprising around 246,910 metric tonnes CO2e (Scope 1), 95,502 metric tonnes CO2e (Scope 2), and 15,338 metric tonnes CO2e (Scope 3 business travel). The 2018 total emissions were about 444,556 metric tonnes CO2e, with Scope 1 at approximately 263,703 metric tonnes CO2e, Scope 2 at around 98,948 metric tonnes CO2e, and Scope 3 business travel at approximately 14,354 metric tonnes CO2e. Note that Scope 3 data for purchased goods and services, fuel and energy-related activities, and upstream transportation and distribution were not disclosed for these years.

G4S has committed to significant climate action, aiming to reduce both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions to near zero by the middle of this decade (2023-2025). Furthermore, G4S has an interim target for Scope 3 emissions to achieve a 50% reduction by 2030, using 2019 levels as the baseline. This target is consistent with a fair share of the 50% global reduction in greenhouse gases identified by the IPCC. G4S UK & Ireland has a "Committed" status for near-term targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), as cascaded from its parent company G4S Limited.
