This figure includes about 11.65 million kg CO2e from Scope 1, approximately 3.48 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2, and around 594.98 million kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions.

Getinge has committed to ambitious climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company aims for net-zero GHG emissions across its value chain by 2050, using a 2021 base year. Near-term targets include a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030, and a 25% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe. Long-term, Getinge commits to maintaining at least 90% absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions reductions from 2030 through 2050, and a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2021 base year.

Additionally, Getinge has a short-term target to become CO2 neutral without offsetting in its own production by 2025. The company also aims to reduce CO2 emissions from production in relation to internal sales volumes by 5% by 2024, compared to a 2019 base year, for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. In 2024, Getinge focused on understanding the actions needed to meet its Scope 3 target, identifying measures such as reducing air freight, improving product energy efficiency, and replacing high-emission materials.
