Mitie

Mitie, a UK-based Facilities Support Services provider, reported its most recent Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions for 2025 as approximately 270.4 million kg CO2e. This includes about 16.8 million kg CO2e from Scope 1 (direct emissions), 3.3 million kg CO2e from Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy), and 254.4 million kg CO2e from Scope 3 (value chain emissions).

Mitie is committed to significant climate action, notably through its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated targets. It aims for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by FY2046, from a FY2017 base year.

Near-Term Targets:

• Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 29.4% by FY2027 from a FY2022 base year.
• Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from fuel and energy related activities, waste generated in operations, business travel, and employee commuting by 25.2% by FY2027 from a FY2022 base year.
• Mitie also commits to annually source 100% renewable electricity through to FY2027 and aims for 60% of its suppliers (by spend covering purchased goods and services and upstream transportation and distribution) to have science-based targets by FY2027.

Long-Term Targets:

• Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by FY2046 from a FY2022 base year.
• Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% within the same timeframe.

Additionally, Mitie has set its own ambitious Plan Zero initiative, committing to Net Zero operational emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2025 and Net Zero non-operational emissions (Scope 3) by 2035. The company also states an interim target to reduce its Scope 3 emissions by 80% by 2030. Mitie is a signatory of the Climate Pledge, reinforcing its commitment to net-zero carbon by 2040.
