Oersted Technology

Oersted Technology, a US-based manufacturer of instruments and related products for industrial process variables, reported approximately 13.5 billion kg CO2e in total greenhouse gas emissions for 2022. This included about 2.5 billion kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 45 million kg CO2e from Scope 2 (location-based), and 11 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. Key contributors to Scope 3 were the use of sold products (about 7.3 billion kg CO2e), capital goods (approximately 1.46 billion kg CO2e), and fuel and energy-related activities (around 1.84 billion kg CO2e).

The company has set ambitious climate commitments. Oersted Technology aims to achieve net-zero emissions across all scopes by 2040, a science-based target validated by the SBTi. This target involves a 77% reduction in GHG emissions intensity (Scopes 1-3, excluding category 11) by 2040 from a 2018 baseline.

Near-term targets include becoming carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025. They also aim for a 98% reduction in Scope 1-2 emissions intensity by 2025, compared to 2006 levels. For Scope 3, a 67% reduction in emissions from category 11, "Use of sold products", is targeted by 2030 from a 2018 baseline. Additionally, Oersted Technology plans a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions from gas sales by 2040.
