Oersted Technology, a US-based Instruments and Related Products Manufacturing for Measuring, Displaying, and Controlling Industrial Process Variables company, reported total Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions of approximately 13.5 billion kg CO2e in 2022. This included about 2.51 billion kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 45 million kg CO2e from Scope 2 (location-based), and 11 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. Key Scope 3 categories included approximately 1.46 billion kg CO2e from capital goods, 7.31 billion kg CO2e from the use of sold products, and 1.84 billion kg CO2e from fuel and energy-related activities.

The company has set ambitious climate commitments. Oersted Technology aims to achieve net-zero emissions across all scopes (Scope 1, 2, and 3) by 2040, a target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This represents a 99% reduction in GHG emissions intensity (excluding Scope 3 Category 11) from 322 g CO2e/kWh in 2018 to less than 2.9 g CO2e/kWh by 2040, with an interim target of 69 g CO2e/kWh by 2025 and 75 g CO2e/kWh by 2030, marking a 77% overall reduction.

Additionally, Oersted Technology is targeting a 67% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions from Category 11, 'Use of sold products', by 2030, compared to 2018 levels. The company also aims for carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025 and a 98% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity by 2025, relative to 2006 levels. By 2040, they are committed to a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions from gas sales.
