Looking back, in 2024, the company's Scope 1 emissions were approximately 260,000,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions stood at about 420,000,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were around 17,680,000,000 kg CO2e. PPG Industries has set ambitious climate targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company commits to an absolute 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, using a 2019 baseline. Furthermore, PPG Industries aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, processing of sold products, and end-of-life treatment of sold products by 30% within the same timeframe. These Scope 1 and 2 targets are aligned with reductions required to keep global warming to 1.5°C.
