Severfield, a UK-based construction company, has outlined its carbon emissions and climate commitments.

In 2025, Severfield reported total Scope 2 emissions of approximately 3,678,000 kg CO2e and Scope 3 emissions of around 178,825,000 kg CO2e. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions included purchased goods and services (approximately 162,145,000 kg CO2e), upstream transportation and distribution (around 5,056,000 kg CO2e), and employee commute (approximately 4,676,000 kg CO2e).

For 2024, the company's Scope 2 emissions were approximately 3,478,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions totalled around 200,520,000 kg CO2e. In 2023, Severfield's Scope 1 emissions were approximately 6,391,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were about 3,106,000 kg CO2e (location-based), and Scope 3 emissions included approximately 213,586,000 kg CO2e from purchased goods and services and around 8,466,000 kg CO2e from upstream transportation and distribution.

Severfield has set several climate targets. The company is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by FY2050, with a FY2023 base year. In the near term, Severfield aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% by FY2033, and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 50.4% within the same timeframe. Long-term targets include a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by FY2040 and a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by FY2050. These targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and are consistent with keeping warming to 1.5°C. Previously, the company aimed for a 25% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2025, against a 2018 baseline.
