Shoosmiths, a UK-based law firm, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 7,335,000 kg CO2e in 2025. This includes Scope 1 emissions of 76,000 kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions of 12,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of 7,247,000 kg CO2e. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions in 2025 were purchased goods and services (5,065,000 kg CO2e), employee commute (1,122,000 kg CO2e), and business travel (496,000 kg CO2e).

Shoosmiths has set ambitious climate commitments, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company aims for net-zero GHG emissions across its value chain by FY2040. Near-term targets include a 55.7% absolute reduction in Scope 1 GHG emissions by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year, and a 50% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year. Additionally, Shoosmiths plans to increase its annual active sourcing of renewable electricity from 74% in FY2020 to 100% by FY2025 through FY2030. Long-term, Shoosmiths is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 90% by FY2040 from a FY2020 base year.

Shoosmiths also previously set a non-SBTi validated target to achieve net zero for its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2025, and has reported a 74% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2020.
