Shoosmiths

Shoosmiths reported total carbon emissions of about 7.24 million kg CO2e in 2024. This included approximately 118,000 kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 11,000 kg CO2e from Scope 2 market-based emissions, and 7.111 million kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. Key contributors to their Scope 3 emissions were purchased goods and services (about 4.795 million kg CO2e), employee commute (about 1.117 million kg CO2e), and capital goods (about 642,000 kg CO2e).

Shoosmiths has committed to several climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). They aim to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across their value chain by FY2040.

Their near-term targets include:

• Reducing absolute Scope 1 GHG emissions by 55.7% by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year.
• Increasing annual active sourcing of renewable electricity from 74% in FY2020 to 100% by FY2025 through FY2030.
• Reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 50% by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year.

For the long term, Shoosmiths commits to reducing absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 90% by FY2040 from a FY2020 base year. They also set an earlier, non-SBTi validated target to achieve net-zero for their operations (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2025, reporting a 74% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2020 towards this goal.
