This includes about 66.4 million kg CO2e from Scope 1, around 28.4 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2, and approximately 1.822 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions were purchased goods and services (approximately 1.160 billion kg CO2e), use of sold products (about 209.8 million kg CO2e), and upstream transportation and distribution (around 271.1 million kg CO2e). In 2023, the company reported market-based Scope 1 and 2 emissions of approximately 136.5 million kg CO2e, comprising about 54.9 million kg CO2e from Scope 1 and around 81.6 million kg CO2e from market-based Scope 2. In 2022, market-based Scope 1 and 2 emissions were approximately 174.4 million kg CO2e.

Stryker is committed to achieving carbon neutrality for its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, using a 2019 baseline. The company also set an interim goal to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 20% by 2024, compared to the 2019 baseline, and reported achieving this target. Stryker has also committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) with a "Commitment removed" status for its near-term target as of January 2024.
