Telkom, a South African post and telecommunication services provider, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 2.29 billion kg CO2e in 2025. This figure comprises 35.13 million kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 541.27 million kg CO2e from Scope 2 emissions, and 1.71 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions.

In 2024, Telkom's total carbon emissions were approximately 2.36 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at 66.17 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 at 572.87 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at 1.72 billion kg CO2e. Looking back to 2023, the company's total emissions were about 2.65 billion kg CO2e, which included 85.10 million kg CO2e from Scope 1, 619.64 million kg CO2e from Scope 2, and 1.95 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3.

Telkom has established ambitious climate commitments, with near-term and long-term Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) verified targets. The company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by FY2040. As part of its near-term goals, Telkom SA SOC Limited is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 54.6% by FY2033, against a FY2022 baseline. Furthermore, it plans to reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy-related activities, and the use of sold products by 32.5% within the same timeframe. For its long-term targets, Telkom aims for a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by FY2040, also from a FY2022 base year. Correspondingly, Telkom is committed to reducing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy-related activities, and the use of sold products by 90% within the same timeframe. These targets are consistent with reductions required to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Telkom has also publicly stated a commitment to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by FY2040.
