Toppan's reported carbon emissions

Toppan, an organisation in the Commercial Printing (except Screen and Books) sector headquartered in Japan, reported a total of approximately 8.6 billion kg CO2e in emissions for the year 2024. This figure encompasses Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. Specifically, Scope 1 emissions were approximately 318 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 6.13 billion kg CO2e. Toppan has established ambitious climate commitments. They aim for net-zero Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In the near term, Toppan has set targets to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 54.6% by 2030, compared to a fiscal year 2017 baseline. Additionally, they aim to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 54.6% by 2030 against the same baseline. For long-term goals, Toppan is targeting a 90% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050, and a 90% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2050, both relative to the fiscal year 2017 baseline. These targets have been verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as being consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
