ALK, a Pharmaceutical Preparation Manufacturing company headquartered in Denmark, reported its latest Scope 1 and 2 emissions for 2025 as approximately 4,883,000 kg CO2e.

In 2023, the company's total emissions were 69,555,000 kg CO2e. This included Scope 1 emissions of 5,128,000 kg CO2e (comprising 1,454,000 kg CO2e from mobile combustion and 501,000 kg CO2e from fugitive emissions), and Scope 2 market-based emissions of 360,000 kg CO2e (location-based Scope 2 emissions were 5,917,000 kg CO2e). Scope 3 emissions in 2023 were 64,067,000 kg CO2e, with significant contributions from purchased goods and services (41,175,000 kg CO2e), employee commute (6,153,000 kg CO2e), business travel (4,615,000 kg CO2e), and upstream transportation and distribution (5,471,000 kg CO2e).

Looking back, ALK's Scope 1 and 2 emissions were approximately 5,492,000 kg CO2e in 2022. In 2021, Scope 1 emissions were 5,801,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 market-based emissions were 2,833,000 kg CO2e. For 2020, Scope 1 emissions were 5,521,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 market-based emissions were 3,020,000 kg CO2e. In 2019, Scope 1 emissions were 5,479,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 market-based emissions were 3,003,000 kg CO2e.

ALK has committed to several climate targets. The company has a near-term Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) approved target to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. Additionally, ALK commits that 80% of its suppliers, by emissions covering purchased goods and services, capital goods, upstream transportation and distribution, business travel, and downstream transportation and distribution, will have science-based targets by 2028. This target boundary includes biogenic emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks. Earlier, between 2019 and 2022, ALK achieved a 41% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO2 emissions from its 2019 baseline.
