Drdgold

Drdgold, a South African-based company in the chemical and fertiliser minerals, salt, and other mining and quarrying products sector, has not disclosed its full carbon emissions data for 2023.

In 2022, Drdgold's total reported greenhouse gas emissions were approximately 414,835,000 kg CO2e. This included about 8,103,000 kg CO2e for Scope 1 emissions, approximately 406,634,000 kg CO2e for Scope 2 emissions, and around 97,000 kg CO2e for Scope 3 emissions.

For 2021, the company reported total emissions of approximately 412,145,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at about 7,449,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 at approximately 404,609,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at around 87,000 kg CO2e.

In 2020, Drdgold's total emissions were approximately 372,025,000 kg CO2e, comprising around 6,923,000 kg CO2e for Scope 1 and approximately 364,950,000 kg CO2e for Scope 2. Scope 3 emissions were not disclosed for this year.

Looking further back to 2019, total emissions were approximately 416,324,000 kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions of about 8,488,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 407,687,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of around 149,000 kg CO2e.

Drdgold has set ambitious climate commitments, aiming to achieve near-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by the middle of this decade (between 2023 and 2025). This aligns with a net-zero classification for both near-term targets.

It is noted that Drdgold is a subsidiary of Sibanye Stillwater Limited, and some initiatives, such as SBTi, are cascaded from this parent organisation. However, Drdgold directly reports its CDP and performance data.
