Klabin

Klabin S.A. (BR), a leading paper and paper products company, has established ambitious climate commitments. In 2023, the company reported total emissions of approximately 2.73 billion kg CO2e, comprising Scope 1 emissions of 720,824,030 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions totalling 50,153,910 kg CO2e (location-based). Scope 3 emissions for 2023 were approximately 1.95 billion kg CO2e, with significant contributions from the processing of sold products and purchased goods and services.

Klabin has set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved targets aligned with a 1.5°C pathway. Key commitments include:

• Near-term (by 2030): A 42% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from a 2022 base year, and a 42% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe. Additionally, Klabin aims for no deforestation across its primary deforestation-linked commodities by December 31, 2025.
• Long-term (by 2050): A commitment to reach net-zero GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. This includes a substantial reduction of 90% in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, and a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions, both from a 2022 base year.

Previous reporting indicates Scope 1 emissions of approximately 783,792,000 kg CO2e in 2021, and Scope 2 emissions of approximately 19,904,000 kg CO2e in the same year. Scope 3 emissions in 2021 were reported at approximately 493,933,000 kg CO2e. In 2020, Klabin reported Scope 1 emissions of approximately 703,830,512 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of 77,768,603 kg CO2e (location-based). Scope 3 emissions for 2020 were approximately 456,910,574 kg CO2e.
