SES, headquartered in Luxembourg and operating within the post and telecommunication services sector, has reported its carbon emissions for several years. In 2024, the company's total emissions were approximately 116,077,000 kg CO2e. This total comprised about 7,826,000 kg CO2e for Scope 1, and approximately 14,239,000 kg CO2e for Scope 2 (market-based). Scope 3 emissions accounted for the largest portion, totalling roughly 94,012,000 kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services being the most significant contributor within this scope.

In 2023, SES reported total emissions of approximately 111,538,000 kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were around 9,799,000 kg CO2e, while Scope 2 emissions (market-based) were approximately 13,705,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions for 2023 totalled about 88,034,000 kg CO2e.

SES has established significant climate commitments. The company aims for a 50% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, using 2019 as its baseline year. This target is aligned with keeping global warming to 1.5°C. Furthermore, SES has committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by no later than 2050 and is working towards submitting Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets for validation. As part of its supplier engagement strategy, SES also commits that 73% of its suppliers, by emissions, covering purchased goods and services, capital goods, and upstream transportation and distribution, will have science-based targets by 2028.
