What is in the reduction actions dataset?
The reduction actions dataset records the specific decarbonisation steps organisations have disclosed: renewable energy contracts, efficiency upgrades, low-carbon material substitution, logistics changes and circularity programmes. Each action is classified, dated, linked to the source document it came from, and mapped to the emissions scope it affects. It shows what a company is doing, not only what it has promised.
Why do targets alone not tell you enough?
A target states an intention. An action states what has been funded and started. Reading them together is how you judge whether an organisation's climate plan is credible, which suppliers and portfolio companies are worth engaging first, and which levers your peers in the same sector are already pulling.
Where does the data come from?
Actions are extracted from public disclosures: sustainability reports, CDP responses, annual filings and company websites. Machine extraction does the first pass and a team of 15 analysts reviews it. Every record carries its source and change history, so you can open the original document from the record. Coverage gaps are shown rather than hidden: where an organisation has disclosed nothing, the record says so.
